Why a QR code on the counter works.
Most happy customers would leave a review if it were easy. The hard part is getting from "that was great" to the right page: open Google, search the business, find the reviews, find the button. Most people give up somewhere in there.
Your stand skips the searching. One scan and they land on your Google reviews.
What happens when someone scans
- They point their phone camera at the code. No app needed.
- A link pops up. They tap it.
- They land on your Google reviews.
How to get your Google review link
Your link comes from your Google Business Profile, the listing that shows up when people search your business. You need to be signed in with the Google account that manages it.
- Sign in to Google with the account that manages your business.
- Search your business name on Google, or open Google Maps. Your profile tools show up at the top.
- Tap Ask for reviews (on some screens it's under Read reviews or Get more reviews).
- Tap Copy link.
- Paste it into the review link field at checkout.
Can't find it, or don't manage your profile yourself? Leave the field blank. We'll find your business on Google and build the link.
Google's rules, in plain words
Google wants reviews to be honest, so it sets a few rules for businesses.
- No rewards for reviews. Don't offer discounts, freebies or entries for a review.
- Ask everyone the same way. Don't send only happy customers to Google. A stand on the counter asks everyone.
- Reviews come from customers. Staff shouldn't write reviews for customers or post them on their phones.
